Eberline Reverse Engineering Program
Solutions for Obsolescence
Paragon Energy Solutions works to support our customers in a variety of ways. One of them is identifying systems or components that are obsolete and reverse engineering them. One system we have identified is the Eberline Area Rad Monitor (ARM/DAM), which is very prevalent in the US Nuclear fleet. Eberline no longer provides support for the ARM/DAM, rendering them obsolete.
Many utilities are required to have the Eberline systems due to their licensing basis. Some of the units have been in operation for many years, and replacement parts are needed. Eberline no longer provides support for the ARM/DAM, leaving utilities with no other apparent choice but to upgrade the system. Upgrades are a large capital expenditure for utilities. Most would rather maintain existing systems than go through the time and expense of upgrading the entire system.
That’s where Paragon Energy Solution's Instrumentation and Controls Lab (I&C) comes into play. We have worked with a major utility to complete reverse engineering of the major electronic components of the Eberline ARMs.
