Paragon recently held a Neutron Monitoring & Nuclear Instrumentation User Group at the company’s headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.
A key question that many nuclear facilities face: “Is it time to modernize aged or obsolete nuclear instrumentation systems to support life extension?”
When the answer is “yes”, Paragon’s innovative CoreVision Neutron Flux Monitoring System (NFMS), a complete line of neutron flux monitoring system products that provide reliable power level monitoring and control for nuclear power plants, is the technology that facilities turn to.
Paragon’s license for Thermo Fisher’s Gamma Metrics Neutron Flux Monitoring (NFM) product line enables the long-term support of the products and allows Thermo Fisher’s legacy
nuclear reactor customers to purchase spares, upgrades, services, and new systems from Paragon to reduce the risk of obsolete products. The license includes rights for NFMSs, including TRTR (Test, Research, and Training Reactors) Instrumentation and Control Systems and Consoles and other nuclear instrumentation and control systems that were incorporated into the Gamma Metrics NFM product line.
Attendees of the user group discussed the clear benefits of an effective neutron monitoring system:
- higher reliability
- lower maintenance costs
- better accuracy
- ease of testing
- compliance with all pertinent regulatory requirements
This three-day course included interactive discussions and presentation including:
- Round table discussions about customer problems
- Field service reports (a summary of problems found by field service)
- Upgrades available for customers
- Report on in-house service repairs
- Report on high failure rates found in repairs
- Upcoming new designs in the works
- Presentations from selected Users (NPP Utilities)
Speakers included:
Tighe Smith, Chief Nuclear Officer
Chris Harrington, Chief Innovation Officer
Ross Lorberbaum Vice President, CoreVision
Clark Artaud, Nuclear I&C Consultant
