Masterful Design
One of Paragon’s best-selling products is the Masterpact low voltage breaker, of which literally thousands are installed at numerous sites. Long the industry standard, the Masterpact breaker is innovative in that it requires no overhauls for 40 years (or 10,000 operations), and needs to be cycled only once every six years. They are smaller than all legacy designs; custom cradles are designed by Paragon and Schneider Electric to meet the requirements of each facility. The cradle racks into the existing switchgear without modification and the Masterpact racks into the cradle. The only physical change required is to the door due to differences in the size of the opening.
With Masterpact breakers, refurbishment tasks, spare parts inventory, and the associated man-hour requirement O&M costs become a thing of the past. The cost of a new Masterpact breaker and the required DCP is less than the cost of most breaker overhauls. Additionally, the Masterpact PM cycle frequently is six years, maintenance tasks can be accomplished in two to four hours with no lubrication or routine replacement parts required.
Without a doubt, Masterpact breakers are the long-term, low-cost solution for the life (or life extension) of any plant.

Magnum Force
For medium voltage applications, Paragon supplies the Schneider Electric Magnum breaker series. Magnum series breakers have multiple configurations to be direct replacements for all popular legacy models. Medium voltage replacement breakers utilize vacuum technology for superior performance, reduced maintenance, and longer life.
The Three ‘R’s
Besides offering new replacement breakers, Paragon provides repair and refurbishment services for all brands of breakers. For both low and medium-voltage breakers, all work is performed in our Fort Worth, Texas facility.
Making the Switch
In addition to breakers, Paragon also manufactures and supplies complete switchgear lineups. In some cases Paragon designs and manufacturers custom switchgear and in other cases, we modify OEM switchgear to meet client-specific requirements, such as electromechanical protection relays instead of digital. Paragon also analyzes and modifies the switchgear so it can withstand seismic qualification testing. Paragon has extensive experience supplying replacement switchgear to worldwide and domestic nuclear plants and DOE facilities, as well as new construction in the same facilities and advanced reactor markets.
Quality Assurance
Paragon assumes responsibility for all nuclear-specific requirements such as qualification and quality assurance for all safety-related replacement breakers and switchgear, which are supplied in accordance with Paragon’s 10CFR 50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, and ASME NQA-1 Quality Assurance Program. Paragon supplies the following comprehensive documentation with each replacement breaker or switchgear order:

- Wiring diagrams
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Qualification Report (as required)
- Certification of Conformance
